WHY DO WE HAVE ALTAR CALLS?

That's the question. Am very interested in hearing from Southern Baptists on this question. Why do we? Have Southern Baptists always had altar calls? If not, when did they begin and why? I know, that's more than one question. But I'm the blog-host so I get to ask what I want even if nobody is interested in answering. selahV

WHY ARE YOU A SOUTHERN BAPTIST?

My sole reason for being a Southern Baptist is the Word of God. I was taken to a Southern Baptist Church in Triangle, Virginia when I was just a toddler. There I grew up learning Bible verses, stories and all about missionaries around the world who were sharing God's Word and expressing His love. I saw evidence of God's love in how I was cared for by the FBC in Triangle. I find it most interesting that if you place a dot on the United States map in Triangle, Virginia where I first went to church and then in East Hartford, Connecticut where I received Christ as my Savior, then one in Lawton, Oklahoma where I now reside, and then connect those dots, you will have a triangle.

I trust and believe in a TRIUNE Sovereign God Who manifests Himself through His only begotten Son, named Jesus, Who attoned for my sin and blessed me with His indwelling presence by way of His ever-present Holy Spirit. I was mentored, discipled and loved by multiple Southern Baptist people. I have fellowshipped with many and had the opportunity of serving Christ by serving them as a teacher, a deacon's wife, a minister's wife and a writer.

I have studied other faiths and find the closest any faith has come to following the teachings in the New Testament Church of Acts, is the Southern Baptists. I know many regenerated, born-again Christians of different faiths and count them my brothers and sisters in Christ. But for me, a Southern Baptist Church is a place where I belong. Through Southern Baptists I am fed, reproved, edified, and encouraged. In my church and beyond it I've learned to serve in the greatest capacity as a woman according to God's Word. So. That is why I am a Southern Baptist.

CALVINISM AND REFORMED, Is There a Difference?

What is the Difference?

Between Calvinism and Reformed? What are the similarities? Please. If you have simple answers without two hundred links to explain it, post an answer here. Having been told I sadly lack knowledge in this subject, I beg you to inform me.

My understanding of Calvinism is the 5-point Tulip. It doesn't go very deep. It's kinda like the Mistletoe in this tree. It clings to the side of all I am. I don't know why. It is sucking the life out of my understanding of God and the purpose of His church. I admit it. What is this all about? I do not understand Dr. Tom Ascol or his group of followers. I do not understand why all Southern Baptist Churches need to be "reformed". I do not understand what Dr. Ascol means by "reformed". I do not understand where he places me because of that. Where do I fit in? I do not understand what he expects of me or my church. Where do we fit in? Can we fit into the puzzle? I'm so tired. If you have answers, feel free to post them here. I may not dialog much. I admit upfront, I am ignorant. I may not have much to offer in way of knowledge. I am seeking. selahV

WHY WAS JESUS BORN? 1ST Question...

According to 1 John 3:8b, The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. 2nd Question...What works has the devil done which made it necessary for Jesus to leave His Father in Heaven and come to earth?

WHAT AILS THE SBC?

OR...WHAT'S WELL WITH THE SOUL OF THE SBC?

This is a topic of interest to some. Since there are varying answers because there are varying opinions, the SBC and all that ails it encompasses multi-topics. And in my opinion it is all in how ya look at it. While many want to look at what ails the SBC, I like to focus on what's good about the SBC. HOW MANY KINDS OF GRACE ARE THERE?

I always thought grace was grace. Recently I read that there is prevenient grace. Does anyone know other kinds of grace that need to be studied? selahV
