WHY WAS JESUS BORN? 1ST Question...

According to 1 John 3:8b, The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. 2nd Question...What works has the devil done which made it necessary for Jesus to leave His Father in Heaven and come to earth?

lively discussion on peter's blog...lol...anyway...

Jesus came to crush the head of satan through the cross (Genesis 3:15) He also came to offer the sacrifice, which had to be a perfect sacrifice to completely take away God's wrath of sin for His people. (Hebrews 5,7,9,10) Before Christ it tells us in Hebrews 10 that the priests had to sacrifice yearly and the sins were a reminder every year, with Christ our conscience is clean (Hebrews 9)

See? I agree with that! And satan is death, and darkness and all that is evil.

The idea that Jesus came to offer the sacrifice is where we may divide, because I accepted the offer and received the gift. But you say I received the gift and opened it, right?

I did a study on the walk through the Pentateuch (sp?) last year. Wish I'd paid closer attention but I remember what the covenants were in principle. And Jesus is our New Covenant. And the only one we will ever need. Do we agree on some of this?

Oh, my that was funny over at Peter's blog if it hadn't gotten so heated! I can understand how communication can be difficult when reading another's words. Which is why it was great that the Lord left His Spirit to help guide us with His, huh? SelahV

I need some clarification on your second question on the New Covenant. Reword it for my small mind.

As far as Christ's sacrifice being offered to you and you accepting it, I would have no problem with if we clarified. I believe you are part of the elect, which you would agree with. I would not agree with someone saying that "God did all He could to bring someone to faith and they rejected Him" This would mean that God can fail and that Christ's atonement would fall short for that individual. But, this does not mean that I believe that those who reject Christ are condemned for doing so...

Hebrews 10:26-29 states that denying Christ is willful sin. And they will pay for that denial forever in hell.
